When it was built, this large family home used a lot of natural timber lining on walls and ceilings throughout as a feature. It was time to completely refresh the look and feel of the home and in particular brighten up the double storey entry foyer.
The final look was a modern clean and bright finish reminiscent of the Hamptons styling.
We repainted the entire interior of the home following the owners and Dulux Colour Consultants plan.
This involved repainting all ceiling, walls, doors, wardrobe doors, and window frames.
The walls and home office ceiling needed to be fully sanded and sealed with an appropriate Sealer Undercoat. The old varnished surfaces needed to be recaulked along the tongue and groove joins. We used something like 5kg of caulk to hide all the black crack outlines of the boards. There were also a lot of knot holes needing to be filled once the white sealer undercoat was applied and highlighted previously unseen defects.
The bedrooms were standard walls and ceilings with some plasterboard repairs where light fittings had been replaced.
All the windows on the north side were stripped and we started again from bare timber to ensure a quality finish.
There was a heavily textured wall that was a troublesome to get painted with the new colour as it had very deep contours.
Several colours and variations of gloss, semi gloss and low sheen were used to highlight certain features and blend in with the existing brick.
The exterior decks were recoated. The deck at the rear of the building had previously been coated with an acrylic product. Once prepared this was recoated using the same brand and tint.
The front deck and retaining wall was new. This was coated in an oil based product as it is much easier to recoat this type of surface when required.
I first met Paul in the later part of 2018 when he came to quote us on repainting the inside of our home. Paul was gracious, kind and really knew what he was talking about. Paul quoted on the time it would take, how he intended to do the job and he was spot on with the everything. He was able to explain how the application of undercoat to the final paint would work – there was no hidden agenda or nasty surprises. Paul tackled even the most challenging of areas with gusto and enthusiasm. Since completing the inside Paul has returned to repaint both our front and rear decks (they look awesome) – I would not hesitate to use Paul for any further painting works we may require. He was a pleasure to have in our home – we would highly recommend Paul for any painting job you may consider.
