This job entailed consulting with the clients to finalise colour choices for their expansive double storey feature wall whose mustard colour had become a little old fashioned.
We were also asked to provide advice on whether it would be possible to fully restore their timber staircase treads so that the colour of the wood would match the restored natural timber floorboards.
Prepare undercoat and repaint the feature wall with the new colour. The double height wall was a series of panels with an interesting detail around the windows.
The colour we used was Dulux Pukaki Half in Aquanamel semi-gloss for this part of the project.
The second part of this job was to restore the old yellowed varnish stair treads so the timber would match the refinished ground floor.
To accompish this we removed the treads, sanding off many layers of old yellowed varnish. We preserved the existing rubber tread on the edge of the stair and refitted the treads.
We then recoated the treads with a clear coat. The almost invisible layer is extremely scratch resistant, designed particularly for highly trafficked floors.
It ensured there was no enhancement or intensification of the light colour of the wood, the original colour is retained. The timber retained the natural appearance and feel of untreated wood.
It also provided anti-slip in accordance with BGR 181 and achieves DIN 51130 rating R 9.
